Q. I’m getting constipated on my diet. What can I do?

A. Although constipation is a common problem with many diets, it is usually much less of a problem with the SlimBuddy plan: this is because SlimBuddy’s low GI approach encourages the eating of lots of fibre-filled foods, especially vegetables, beans, oats and whole grains. So as you are suffering from constipation, these are the foods you need to focus on by increasing their intake. Remember to drink plenty of water when you consume more fibre and increase your consumption of fibre slowly, otherwise you risk suffering from bloating, excessive wind and diarrhoea. Incidentally fibre is also important for lowering blood sugar and cholesterol, improving insulin efficiency, and reducing cancer risk.
